I had a great-aunt that won a radio contest sometime in the 70's. She won a trip to California and her choice of a day at Disneyland, or attend a taping of The Lawrence Welk show. I hated visiting her house.

Are we doing moon songs? Do I get to drop a French Connection reference? Forget it, I’m posting anyway.
And, because I can (and I will), the alternate album version (with a completely batshit seizure-inducing montage video):

It’s always time for moon songs.

And one not-Debussy, for good measure:
PS: The Kamasi Washington album The Epic (second vid) is insanely good. Highly recommended.

You’ve made me realize I don’t have a decent version of Clair de lune on vinyl. I hope to rectify that tomorrow as well as pick up that Kamasi Washington album. Great stuff!
This post has gone full moon.

If I might recommend one thing on The Epic : Take a look at the track listing/ordering on the CD versus vinyl release. To make everything work on 3 LPs, some reordering was done to make it work with per-side time constraints. So, some restructuring of the movements, as far as I can tell. Also, I’m one of those heathens who will put a good Redbook CD against a modern pressing any day, but that’s just me. YMMV.
As for other Clair de Lune performances: I scored ages ago on one of the seemingly endless stream of recordings of the Philadelphia with Ormandy. If you can scour the right sections of your local used record place, you might score with something nice and vintage as a second version.
Edit: I have the stereo version ( here ), but there’s also a mono one ( here ).
Gosh, isn’t this fun?

It sure is:)
I agree with you on CD’s versus vinyl. Between those two formats, initial recording and mastering play a bigger part than what they are printed on. And, I m ight be crazy, but I think vinyl sounds amazing on an older analog receiver while CD’s sound great through digital receivers.
As far as current or recent albums I tend to stick with CD’s. Especially when they screw with the track order, haha.
For classical I like to look for specific performances on vinyl. Like this one. (which I ordered off discogs from a seller in England)
So now Ormandy and Oistrakh are on my list for Clair de lune.

So you’re just gonna drop Elgar on me like that? Oof. I need another whiskey.
